Happy 2010!!
Hey Everyone,
The last part of 2009 was crazy for us at The African Future. We were in East Africa for the most of the last quarter of 2009, enjoying our people and the beautiful climate East Africa has to offer.
So a Year-Round up for 2009.
We have been successful in building TaF, slowly but surely with Abdi-Fatah and I. Our project of 2009 was our Somali Ramadan Relief project, it went well as you can see in the blog entry below. With your assistance we were able to raise a great amount and help feed 265 families in Somalia.
For those of you that follow the situation in Somalia, unfortunately it has been worse than in previous years, with the violence increasing. Thankfully that has inspired us at TaF to want to do more than we did previously. So we’ve decided to continue our adopted theme of a great project per year….in 2010 its our 10X10X10 project.
10X10X10 is a project that we’ve developed to help partially equip 10 Hospitals throughout Somalia by October 10, 2010. We have been fortunate to meet some great people here in the US who have offered to donate their Hospital Equipment to our partners in Somalia. We are now in the efforts of searching for shipping funding.
The premise of 10X10X10 is to help equip a portion of a hospital or health clinic to be able to gain financial stability to become self-dependent. For example one of our partner hospitals has asked to help equip a laboratory, which will help the local community with simple labs that they are currently traveling to Ethiopia, Kenya and even Dubai for. Financially this will help the local community with travel costs and medical costs. And for our partner hospital it will allow for them to generate continual funds to help reconstruct and rebuild their hospital. A WIN WIN situation!
We will keep you updated on our 2010 projects, and hope you can support our efforts.
Happy New Year from TaF!
